Ana Caroline de Lima is a Brazilian photographer, journalist, PgD in anthropology and 2021 National Geographic Explorer. Her work focuses on the human relationship with the natural environment and contemporary culture.
From Amazon to the Andes, much of her work has been done in South America, although she has also developed different projects in Asia and Europe.
Currently, Ana is working at the Cerrado, a world’s biodiversity hotspot and home to more than 4000 endemic plants. Through solutions journalism, Ana documents socio-environmental examples of how biodiversity, bioeconomy and traditional knowledge are crucial to preserve the second largest of South America (and also where Ana’s origins are from)
Her work has been awarded both nationally and internationally and exhibited in more than 20 countries, in places such as Museo di Roma in Trastevere, Oxo Tower and Palacio de Maldonado.
Ana is a XXXIII Eddie Adams Workshop and 73 Missouri Photo Workshop alumna and a member of Diversify Photo, Authority Collective, Women Photograph and Everyday Projects. Currently working in the state of Minas Gerais, she is also HEFAT trained for extreme environments and a Brazilian certified drone pilot.
